Where we meet: | Meet us at our firetruck and mini-float which will be parked at Annunciation Playground, 800 Race St, New Orleans (Annunciation St at Race St). Arrive no later than 11am. If you are going to park at 800 Race Street, I suggest that you get there early prob 10am or earlier as parking will be very tight in that area. Wives, girlfriends, and family are invited to our pre-game activities. We will give you your costume and we will all dress out there. Beer, water, and food will be provided from 11am to 1pm. We will take a group picture before the parade starts. |
Parade Route: | PARADE STARTS: Magazine St at Felicity St, New Orleans, LA. (See route map below). |
PARADE ENDS: Magazine St at Jackson Av, New Orleans, LA.
(See route map below).
Note: When you see Tracey's on the right during the parade, this means we are almost to the end of the parade route.
Once our firetruck turns right off of Magazine Street onto Jackson Avenue THE PARADE IS OVER.
The firetruck and mini-float will stop briefly on Jackson Avenue at Annunciation Street for everyone to get off/unload.
Make sure to take all your personal belongings with you.

Parade Info: | Click on this link: The Irish Channel St Patricks Day Parade in New Orleans for parade information. Note: The Braveheart Warriors do not organize the parade - rather we are a marching club/unit in the Irish Channel St Patrick's Day parade. |
Cost: | $199. Click here to sign up and pay with credit card or PayPal. |
Costume: | Our costume is an authentic Braveheart warrior costume which includes a sewn kilt made from genuine tartan wool cloth made by the Islay Woolen Mill in Scotland. Our kilts are made with the same cloth from the same mill that made the kilt cloth for the movie Braveheart. You will also be provided with a t-shirt and a warrior wig. We have a limited supply of brigandine vests and a limited supply of rubber and plastic weapons. When the vests and weapons are gone they are gone so get there early as costumes are first come first served. We provide blue facepaint and we will have someone painting faces also. |
What you need to bring: | You must wear SHORT pants (w/belt & pockets recommended to hold your wallet and cellphone) along with dark or brown
hiking/work boots with thick brown socks.
Do not wear LONG short pants otherwise your shorts will hang down below your kilt. Your short pants should stop above your knees.
Also, you must wear shorts under your kilt which means you cannot go commando (i.e. you must have clothes on under your kilt). You do not have to wear a tshirt - but you MUST wear our kilt which displays our clan tartan. You do not have to wear a vest (many do not), you do not have to wear a wig (some do not), and you do not have to carry a prop sword. If the weather is cold on parade day, wear a long sleeve tshirt or thermal (dark or neutral in color) underneath your costume. NOTE: The pleats on the kilt should always be positioned in the back (by your butt) , the pleats should never be in the front! |
Transportation: | You must provide your own transportation to the parade staging location at 800 Race Street, New Orleans, LA.
You must provide your own transportation back home or to your hotel after the parade ends at Magazine St at Jackson Av.
Uber, Lyft, or taxi, is recommended for dropoff and after the parade.
After the parade ends, if you want to return to our dress out location at 800 Race Street,
it is strongly suggested that you take a taxi or Uber/Lyft back to that location.
If you do decide to walk to 800 Race Street, it is about 1 mile (approx 20 minute walk) from the end of the parade route and the Parasols/Tracey’s area.
Notice: Regardless of where you are, walking or otherwise, always stay alert and aware of your surroundings. New Orleans isn’t the safest city and it’s easy to wander into questionable / sketchy / dangerous areas. Never walk late at night, alone, or after you have been drinking. Always drink responsibly during all of our events and NEVER DRINK AND DRIVE. Warning: If you get so drunk that you are falling down / stumbling / wasted, then you will be removed from our parade. |
Other advice: | Apply sunscreen before the parade. Eat breakfast on parade day. We will serve some food and water during the dress out period from 11am to 1pm on parade day. Drink lots of water before and during the parade to stay hydrated. |
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFO: | Stay together with our marching group at all times and do not lag behind.
Remain behind our mini-float at all times. Only board the firetruck or mini-float when they are not in motion.
The mini-float can only support 10 people maximum at any time.
NEVER GO IN FRONT OF OUR FIRETRUCK OR MINI FLOAT AT ANY TIME. NEVER REACH OR GO UNDER THE MINI FLOAT OR FIRETRUCK AT ANY TIME. USE CAUTION SO THAT YOUR KILT OR OTHER COSTUME PARTS DOESNT HANG DOWN AND GET SNAGGED OR CAUGHT ON THE FIRETRUCK OR MINI-FLOAT. NO RIDING ON THE BACK OR SIDES OF THE FIRETRUCK OR MINI-FLOAT. NEVER GO BETWEEN THE FIRETRUCK AND THE MINI FLOAT AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON. If you have any medical issues during the parade, please call 911, notify the nearest police or first responder immediately, and locate and notify Mike Teachworth or Dan Teachworth |
Drinks: | We will provide kegs of beer for our marching crew along with bottled water. Write your name on and re-use your same beer cup as much as possible as we have a limited supply. NOTICE: We cannot and do not provide safe storage for your beads, backpacks, phones, jackets, wallets, etc. Every year people lose things, so if you dont want to lose something, then dont bring it with you. |
Throws: | If you want to hand out beads or throws (trust me you do), then YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN THROWS. We are not able to provide tiaras, swords, and beads this year.
Consolidate your throws into ONE duffle bag,
write your name on the outside of it, bring it with you on parade day and you can put it on our the mini-float.
We have very limited room on the so each marcher is allowed ONLY ONE duffle bag of throws.
Note: We cannot watch nor are we responsible for anyones throws or your belongings.
Note that anything you put on the float or firetruck may get lost or taken or thrown overboard. If you don't want to
lose it, then dont bring it or dont put it on the float or firetruck.
You cannot throw or hand out anything offensive, political, or of a sexual nature.
You cannot throw or hand out food or vegetables or snacks of any kind.
You can bring flowers but you cannot bring or carry a cane of flowers.
Important: Conserve YOUR THROWS UNTIL THE LAST 25% of the parade route (the last hour) which is Magazine Street where crowds will be very large. If you want to purchase throws at a discount, visit Beads by the Dozen, 333 Edwards Ave, New Orleans, LA 70123. Tell them at checkout that you are a member of The Braveheart Warriors Marching Club and you will receive a discount. The color of Scotland is blue, so it is preferred that you purchase teal or blue beads (if possible) versus green beads, however you can bring any color bead you want. Also, since storage space for throws on the mini-float is limited, we suggest that you buy a smaller number of premium/higher quality beads/throws and then hand them out sparingly. (In contrast to buying and handing out a larger quantity of "trash" beads that nobody really wants anyway.) |
Riding: | While you can take breaks on the mini float, please do not stay on the minifloat for long periods of time. Note: No one is allowed in the firetruck except those who paid an additional fee to reserve those spots. |
Miscellaneous: | Watch the movie Braveheart before we march for additional inspiration and enthusiasm. Its a really great movie. |
Trivia: | Did you know that St. Patrick, the patron Saint of Ireland, and honoree of this parade, is not Irish but actually Scottish? St Patrick was born in the year 387 at Kilpatrick, near Dumbarton, in Scotland. St Patricks Day is officially celebrated on March 17, the date on which St Patrick died in 461. |
Restroom: | There is a portalet on our mini-float. In respect to your other warriors, please try to drop your deuce before you leave home. |

Costume: | THE COSTUME IS LOANED TO YOU AS A ONE DAY RENTAL ONLY - SO YOU MUST RETURN IT UNDAMAGED BY THE WEDNESDAY FOLLOWING PARADE DAY OR YOU WILL BE CHARGED. You must return the entire uniform undamaged, including kilt, vest, wig, and sword/weapon. The tshirt given to you is yours to keep. Everything in the costume is numbered and assigned so we know who got what. Keep your costume with you after the parade and give it to your clan leader who will return it to us. Your clan leader is the person who referred you to us. Or you can contact or text Mike Teachworth at 713-231-4504 and I will make arrangements to get it from you. |
